Tuna exports to the Middle East have mostly decreased

According to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers, after a continuous decline in the fourth quarter of 2022, Vietnam's tuna exports to the Middle East decreased continuously in the first months of 2023. According to Vietnam Customs, tuna export turnover to this market in the first 5 months of 2023 reached 32 million USD, down 21%. In which, export processed tuna products decreased. Canned tuna and frozen meat fillets are still the two main export products of Vietnam to the Middle East market, accounting for 48% and 43% respectively. Exports of both these product groups in the first 5 months of 2022 decreased by 1% and 41% respectively over the same period. However, canned tuna exports to the Middle East tend to recover. Particularly in May 2023, Vietnam's canned tuna exports to this market increased 75% over the same period.
