In August, the price of tuna in Bangkok, Thailand remained at $2,000/ton, the same as in July. Thai canning factories purchased tuna for a price between $2,000-2,050/ton. In Ecuador, the price of tuna raw materials increased by $50/ton from the previous month to $1,900-1,950/ton. The demand for tuna in Ecuador's canneries is not satisfactory, and the El Niño phenomenon in South America is negatively impacting the tuna fishing industry. Tuna catches are also sluggish in the Indian Ocean and Atlantic Ocean, causing prices to rise in Seychelles and Abidjan.
