The Turkish government has permitted duty-free imports of wheat for the production of flour for export, in an effort to support the milling industry and potentially restore Turkey's leading position in the global flour market. This decision comes after a significant drop in flour exports in the 2024-2025 agricultural season, following wheat import restrictions introduced in June 2024 to protect local farmers. The state-run Turkish Grain Board (TMO) is now responsible for managing the imports and exports of wheat.
