The Turkish citrus industry experienced a significant growth in the first quarter of 2024, with exports increasing by 16% to reach $475 million, surpassing $1 billion for the first time in its history. This growth was largely driven by a 399% increase in exports to Iraq, making it the second-largest market for Turkish citrus products with $90.2 million in exports. Tangerines continue to be the leading citrus product in exports, followed by lemons, oranges, and grapefruits. The industry aims to further increase exports to $1.3 billion by the end of 2024. Iraq has shown a particularly high demand for lemons and oranges, with imports of these products increasing by 181% and 1334% respectively compared to the same period in 2023.
