The Ahlat district in Bitlis, Turkey, is known for its late cherry harvest due to its high altitude, with the harvest lasting until the beginning of August. The region's cherries are valued for their unique taste and aroma caused by the temperature differences between day and night. Agricultural engineer Havva Çağlar, who grows cherries in the Seyrantepe village, mentioned that the harvest season coincides with the end of the cherry harvest in many other regions of Turkey, allowing for a longer selling period. The cherries are primarily sold in eastern, central, and southeastern Anatolia, with a single export to Azerbaijan.
