Germany is the world's third largest importer of cherries, with 52 to 77 percent of the cherries consumed between 2010 and 2019 being imported. The largest suppliers of cherries outside the EU are Turkey and Serbia. Germany imports the most cherries from Austria, but the highest year-on-year increase is recorded in Turkish cherries. Turkey's cherry exports to 60 countries were worth $212 million from January 1 to July 21, 2020, exceeding their $200 million goal. Germany is the most important export market for Turkish sweet cherries.
