Turkish fruit and vegetable exports amount to more than €156 million in July

The export of fruit and vegetables from Turkey amounted to more than 155 million dollars (more than 156 million euros) in July, while the share of exporters in the Mediterranean region in total revenues amounted to 54.4 million dollars. Last month, the country supplied 179,400 tons to foreign markets, said Ferhat Gürbüz, the head of the Mediterranean Association of Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters (AKİB). Gürbüz noted that the main markets for local growers are the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), the European Union and countries in the Middle East. Exports to Russia rose 53 percent to $83.1 million, while exports to Germany amounted to $28.2 million, Gürbüz said. Iraq was the third largest importer of Turkish fresh fruit and vegetables, purchasing $4.3 million worth of products.
