In 2021, Turkey experienced a significant increase in pistachio exports, with a 76% rise compared to the previous year, totaling $209.69 million. The country exported 20,332 tons of pistachios to 110 countries, led by Italy, Germany, and China. The head of the Union of Exporters of Dried Fruits and Processed Products of GAIB, Mehmet Cikmaz, attributed this success to the processing of pistachios in Gaziantep and other regions of Southeast Anatolia, which has increased income and international popularity of the product. He anticipates further growth in pistachio exports in the future due to increased tree numbers and ongoing efforts to expand in the global market.
