Turkmenistan increased tomato exports by 3% in the first quarter

In the first quarter of 2024, Turkmenistan experienced a 3% increase in tomato exports, with a notable 20% rise in shipments to Kazakhstan, compared to the same period the previous year. The country's primary export destinations for tomatoes include the Russian Federation, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan. Throughout 2023, Turkmenistan successfully exported 128 thousand tons of tomatoes, achieving a significant 3.4-fold increase since 2020. The largest importers of Turkmenistan's tomatoes were Russia and Kazakhstan, accounting for 57% and 28% of the total exports, respectively. This growth underscores Turkmenistan's burgeoning role in the regional greenhouse tomato market.
