The Ugandan government, in partnership with the World Bank, is launching the Uganda Climate Smart Agricultural Transformation (UCSAT) project, a $350 million initiative to boost agricultural productivity in 69 districts through innovative practices like maggot farming and beekeeping. The Ministry of Agriculture, led by Minister Frank Tumwebaze, emphasizes the proper use of government-provided agricultural equipment, warning against misuse and monopolization. The Ministry plans to audit and potentially reallocate resources such as tractors, milk coolers, and maize mills if they are underutilized or misused. This initiative is part of broader efforts to enhance food and animal feed production in Uganda, focusing on mechanization, irrigation, pest control, and farmer education, with the World Bank supporting inclusive growth through climate-smart agriculture.
