In February 2023, Ukraine saw a significant increase in dairy exports, with a 34.15% rise from January reaching almost $20 million. This growth was led by a 33.17% increase in cheese exports, with the main destinations being Kazakhstan, Moldova, Libya, Jordan, and Azerbaijan. Additionally, there was a 94.96% increase in exports of dry and condensed milk, with most shipped to Poland, Malaysia, and Israel. Ukraine also experienced a 31.77% increase in ice cream exports, with Poland, Moldova, Israel, Iraq, and Germany as the main recipients. Despite this growth, import of dairy products to Ukraine increased by 38% due to higher supply from EU member states. The Association of Milk Producers in Ukraine is advocating for a reduction in the VAT rate on domestic milk and dairy products to support consumer demand. The demand for Ukrainian dairy products, particularly butter and cheeses, in countries like China, and dry milk in Asian and African countries such as Malaysia and Algeria, remains high.
