Ukraine is increasing the production of corn-based bioethanol.

In Ukraine, the production of bioethanol is actively expanding—currently, about 1 million tons of processing capacity is being built within industrial parks. For their full operation, approximately 3 million tons of corn are needed annually, said Taras Mykolaienko, the director of the Ukrainian Bioethanol Producers Association, reports UkrAgroConsult. "Whenever a new industrial park is being created, bioethanol production is planned in every second one. Only the facilities that are starting to lay the foundation amount to 1 million tons. If we convert these figures into corn, it amounts to 3 million tons. Therefore, corn will be processed here at full capacity under an optimistic scenario," he said at the conference "Conducting Agribusiness in Ukraine." According to Mykolaienko, the European market consumes about 6 million tons of bioethanol per year, and Ukrainian producers could successfully compete there.
