Domestic pasta manufacturers in 2025 will, for the first time in the entire history of Ukraine's independence, produce products using 50% wheat of the durum variety grown by Ukrainian farmers, reported the director of the association "Flour Mills of Ukraine" Rodion Rybchinsky, writes Interfax Ukraine. "This year, for the first time, perhaps 50% of the durum wheat that was previously purchased abroad will be replaced by domestic wheat (at pasta production facilities – IF-U), " he said at the Agro2Food Profit forum in Kyiv on Wednesday. The expert attributed the reason for this import substitution to climate change in the country. Currently, the Mykolaiv, Odesa, Khmelnytskyi, and partly Vinnytsia regions are suitable for the production of durum wheat due to global warming, said Rybchinsky.
