Ukrainian potato at low prices, competitive with Polish ones

Depending on the quality of the product, average prices on domestic commodity markets for edible potatoes range from PLN 1.20 to PLN 1.80/kg. Decreases in potato arable area and drought translate into slightly smaller domestic harvests this year. At the same time, lower supply means higher prices on the markets. The situation is similar in European countries that record smaller potato harvests as a result of a dry summer, such as Germany, Sweden, Belgium and the Netherlands. Meanwhile, the export of commercial potatoes from Ukraine is increasing significantly, and for now there is only one main market - Moldova. However, in Poland there are offers to sell Ukrainian potatoes at low prices. According to market experts, it is a product of uncertain phytosanitary safety.
