The agricultural organization UPA has applauded the presentation of the Generational Renewal Strategy in Agriculture, urging all Governments to develop it with urgency. The average age of farmers in the European Union is 57 years, and only 12% are under 40 years old, of which barely 2.5% are women. In Spain, 41% of farm owners are over 65 years old and only 9% are under 41 years old. Data that demonstrate the enormous imbalance in the structure of European agricultural holdings, in which Spain is no exception. This problem has been reported for many years by the Union of Small Farmers and Livestock Breeders, and yet it has not been sufficiently addressed from the political sphere, at all levels.
