Uruguay's exports saw a 15% increase in the first two months of 2021 compared to the same period in 2020, with sales to China rising 79%. The exports were driven by meat by-products, wheat, dairy products, wood, cellulose, margarine and oils, other foods, and vehicles. However, rice, fish, seafood, energy, and beverage concentrate had a negative impact. China was the main export market, followed by Brazil. The highest increases were in live animals to Lebanon, rapeseed and wheat through the Nueva Palmira free zone, fats and oils to Brazil, France, and Spain, and other animal products to Hong Kong.
