U.S. corn exports reach 487.6 thousand tons in the week, highlighting main buyers

United States exporters reported the sale of 487.6 thousand tons of corn from the 2023/24 harvest in the week ending January 4, after discounting cancellations, as released by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). This volume represents a 33% growth compared to the previous week, but a 52% drop compared to the average of the previous four weeks. The main destinations for these exports were Colombia (216.1 thousand t), Japan (152.5 thousand t), Mexico (121 thousand t), South Korea (68.1 thousand t) and Guatemala (42.6 thousand t) , compensating for cancellations made by undisclosed destinations (138.2 thousand t) and Costa Rica (4.3 thousand t). No sales were reported for the 2024/25 harvest. The volume was closer to the lower limit of analysts' forecasts, which expected sales ranging between 400 thousand tons and 1.2 million tons.
