U.S. pork exports fell in July

Pork exports totaled 238,922 metric tons (mt), a 1% year-over-year decline, while the value fell 4% to $680.9 million, largely reflecting a 10% drop in variety meat prices due to China's tariffs. In the first seven months of 2025, pork exports were 4% below last year's record pace, both in volume (1.69 million mt) and value ($4.8 billion). July was another solid month for pork exports to the top destination, Mexico, although shipments were down from the strong volumes of the previous year. Exports totaled 92,524 tons, an 8% drop from the previous year, while the value reached $228.4 million, a 7% drop from the previous year, but still the second highest volume this year (after June's near-record) and the sixth highest ever recorded. Mexico accounted for 10.9% of U.S. pork muscle cuts production in July and for the January-July period, up from 10.6% in the same period last year.
