In October 2024, the U.S. imported less shrimp than the previous year, with the top exporters being India, Indonesia, and Ecuador. India and Indonesia experienced slight increases in their exports, while Ecuador saw a significant decrease. Vietnam, Thailand, Mexico, and Argentina were the next leading exporters. The FDA reported three shrimp deliveries were refused for banned antibiotics, a record high in seven years. Two of these refusals were from BAP-certified processors in India. The FDA also refused entry lines from Indonesia-based companies for "added bulk."
