Uzbekistan has seen a decrease in banana prices, making them cheaper than in Georgia and Moldova, due to increased trade efficiency and the elimination of import duties on fruits not grown in the country. Despite a 27% decrease in banana imports in the first four months of 2023, falling prices are expected to increase imports. Currently, Ecuador is the primary supplier, but the use of a pooling system could further reduce costs for supermarket chains and importers, potentially saving over $10 million annually.
