"It is absolutely necessary to make changes to the Agricultural Land Use Act, because at present our producers are establishing gardens not where it is most suitable for creating these plantations, but where there is an opportunity to obtain legal grounds for this land," said Dimitrichka Tarpanava, Deputy Chair of the Dobrudja Fruit Growers' Union (DGOS), to Agri.BG. According to her, the practice clearly shows that "over the years it has been seen that many gardens, even those funded by European projects, do not last because they simply do not bear fruit." This is why fruit growers are insisting on changes that would guarantee long-term and stable land use. "Allowing a long-term agreement that would give producers the right to establish gardens in the most suitable places would be a great success for us," Tarpanava emphasized.
