Brazil: Vegetable prices fell in October, while tomatoes rose

According to the 11th Bulletin of the Brazilian Program for the Modernization of the Fruit and Vegetable Market (Prohort), released by the National Supply Company (Conab) this Friday (22), the month of October was marked by a downward trend in the prices of several vegetables, such as lettuce, potatoes, onions and carrots, in the main supply centers in Brazil. On the other hand, the price of tomatoes increased in the period, reversing the trend observed in other vegetables. Regarding lettuce, the bulletin indicates that this was the second consecutive month of price variation among the Ceasas analyzed. The weighted average showed a drop of 1.02% compared to September. The price of potatoes, which has been falling since July, continued to decline, although it is still higher than that recorded in October 2023.
