In 2023, Vietnam witnessed a notable growth in its rice exports to Africa, reaching 1.3 million tons with a value of US$788 million, marking a 6.3% increase in volume and a 27.7% increase in value from the previous year. The primary importers include Ivory Coast, Ghana, Senegal, and Cameroon, with fragrant rice becoming a popular choice due to its quality and price. To foster further growth, the Asia-Africa Market Department emphasizes the need for improved export management, policy adjustments, and quality enhancement by companies. This approach aims to not only increase the export volume and market share of Vietnamese rice but also to win the trust of African consumers by meeting their quality expectations and actively participating in rice promotion activities across the continent.
