The pangasius farming sector has seen significant growth, with over 240,000 broodfish ready for spawning as of now, including 180,000 from commercial stocks and 60,000 high-quality pangasius. The production of fry and fingerlings has reached impressive numbers by the end of October 2024. However, the sector faces challenges such as climate change, saltwater intrusion, and increasing production from countries like Indonesia, India, and China, which are driving competition in key markets. To achieve the targets set for 2025, which include producing 1.65 million tons and generating $2 billion in export revenue, the sector plans to focus on improving broodstock, innovating feed, recycling by-products, applying technology, and building strong brands.
