Opportunities from New Markets According to statistics from Vietnam's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, from January to July 2025, among the main export markets, the export value of rice to Bangladesh increased the most, reaching 188.2 times; the export value to Malaysia decreased the most, down by 58.5%; while the traditional market, the Philippines, decreased by 13.5%. The reason for this situation is that these traditional markets, on the one hand, have increased rice reserves, and on the other hand, have increased production efforts to achieve self-sufficiency in grain. Data from the Vietnam Food Association shows that as of early June 2025, the total rice reserves in the Philippines reached 2.239 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 3.5%. In Indonesia, the country has raised its rice production target for 2026 to 33.8 million tons, higher than the initial target of 32 million tons.
