Vietnam's seafood exports to the EU market saw a 12% increase in 2021, reaching over 1 billion USD, with the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Italy, and France being the top five markets. Exports of major products like shrimp, tuna, and shellfish, including clams, experienced positive growth, except for pangasius which saw a nearly 17% decline due to increased sea freight rates. The economic stimulus package and tariff advantages from the EVFTA have contributed to the recovery of seafood demand in the EU. Shellfish exports, especially clams, surged by 37% to $87 million, making it the fourth largest seafood species in export value to the EU.
