Despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, the export of agricultural and aquatic products to the EU has shown positive growth, with the EU being Vietnam's third largest market after the US and China. In the first seven months of 2021, the EU export turnover increased by 15.6 percent year-on-year to US$22.6 billion. The direct export of fresh fruits to Western European countries by Vietnamese companies is a significant milestone, with fresh litchi and longan being sold in European supermarket chains. The Vietnam Trade Office in Belgium and the EU is working to connect Vietnamese goods with the EU market and supports exporters to ensure the circulation of commodities. Meanwhile, the export of aquatic products to the EU market requires full compliance with technical standards on food safety and hygiene.
