In 2021, the European Union (EU) imported 216.26 thousand tons of cashew nuts, valued at 1.3 billion euros ($1.43 billion), marking a 5.5% increase in value but a 1.6% decrease in volume compared to the previous year. Vietnam was the largest exporter to the EU, contributing to 54.02% of the total import value with 116.6 million euros ($128.7 million) worth of cashews. The Netherlands, Germany, and France were the top three importers of cashew nuts in the EU, importing 63.1 thousand tons, 59.2 thousand tons, and 17 thousand tons, respectively. The Dutch market saw a 7.6% increase in volume and a 3.6% increase in value, while Germany's imports experienced a decline of 9.7% in volume and 16.6% in value. France's imports rose by 16.3% in volume and 6.8% in value.
