Vietnamese Lychees Day in Germany: Bringing German Consumers Closer to Lychees from Bac Giang

The event was jointly organized by the Vietnam Trade Office in Germany, the German Selgros Wholesale Supermarket System, and the Northern Binh Trade Promotion Delegation.

Attendees included representatives from the Vietnamese Embassy in Germany, representatives from the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Finance, Mr. Rainier Schubert, Secretary of the German International Business Attaché Club, and representatives from nearly 40 Vietnamese and German companies engaged in consulting and import-export businesses.

The highlight of the event was lychees from Vietnam's Northern Binh Province, an agricultural region with nearly 300,000 hectares of farmland, excellent climate and soil conditions, and a rich crop ecosystem. Lychees are the province's most representative agricultural product, with nearly 30,000 hectares of cultivation, accounting for over 60% of the province's fruit planting area. The product has successfully exported to over 30 countries and regions after passing strict technical and food safety standards. Northern Binh Province's pre-processing, packaging, and logistics systems are continuously modernizing and synchronizing.

Vietnamese Trade Attaché to Germany, Ms. Dang Thi Thanh Phuong, stated that Vietnamese fruits and agricultural products have export advantages. German consumers are already familiar with some Vietnamese specialty products like coffee, seafood, tea, and condiments. However, many other Vietnamese goods remain unknown or unpopular in the German market.

Northern Binh Province's delegation's trade promotion trip to Europe to directly promote its characteristic lychees received high praise from Selgros Supermarket. This not only allows German consumers to further understand Vietnamese lychees but also experience other specialty agricultural products such as pomelo, dragon fruit, fresh coconuts, and coffee.

Northern Binh Province Standing Committee Member and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, Nghiem Xuan Thuong, emphasized that the "Vietnam Goods Day" event at Selgros is an excellent opportunity to promote trade and market Vietnamese lychees and other representative agricultural products in Germany. The event also provides an opportunity to strengthen cooperation between Northern Binh Province and German partners in agriculture, trade, logistics, and tourism.
