In the first four months of 2024, Vietnam saw a 6% increase in the export value of aquatic products compared to the same period in 2023, totaling US$2.7 billion. Despite similar shrimp exports to April 2023, there was a 13% increase in pangasius exports and a 28% surge in tuna exports in April 2024, compensating for the 14% drop in squid and octopus exports and the 2% decrease in shellfish exports. Crab exports experienced a 101% growth, with China being the main market. However, exports to the EU and the United States were stagnant or slightly down, and there was a significant drop in exports to China. The industry remains cautious due to inflation and inventory issues, but expects improvements in the second half of the year.
