The walnut harvest in Mexico's south central region, including Jiménez, Camargo, and Delicias, is progressing with 70% of the crop collected. However, the harvest has been negatively impacted by high temperatures and rainfall shortages, leading to a decrease in walnut production and the development of low-quality nuts. Producers are actively selecting for high-quality nuts to sell. The extent of the damage to the crop remains uncertain, with a significant factor being a hot summer with prolonged periods of high temperatures and low humidity, which affected walnut production and resulted in lower crop values.
