Prolonged precipitation, especially in the western regions of Ukraine, is delaying the sowing of winter wheat and the harvesting of sunflower and soybeans, causing farmers to hold back on sales and increasing prices for Ukrainian agricultural products. According to the Ministry of Economy, as of October 9, 33 million tons of new crop grain have been harvested from 67% of the threshed area in Ukraine, including 3.4 million tons of corn from 15% of the area with a yield of 5.4 t/ha, although a year ago at this time 10.6 million tons were harvested from 48% of the area with a yield of 5.58 t/ha.
