2021/22 global consumption fell by 1.9 million tonnes to 787.5 million, mainly due to lower use for the United States (U.S.), the E.U. and Ukraine. Projected world trade for 2021/22 is reduced by 1.1 million tonnes to 204.4 million, as reductions in exports from Russia and the US are only partially offset by higher exports from the EU. Russia recently announced a wheat export quota of 8.0 million tonnes from mid-February to the end of June, which is expected to limit its exports in the second half of the marketing year. Projected world ending stocks for 2021/22 rise by 1.8 million tonnes to 280.0 million, with increases mainly for the United States, Russia, Kazakhstan and Argentina.
