Minister of Agriculture and Food Georgi Tahkov was heard by the parliamentary committee on agriculture regarding the proposal to eliminate the modulated rate in the coupled support for dairy cows in breeding programs. Tahkov recalled that the idea was introduced by the National Union of Cattle Breeders, the Association "United Bulgarian Livestock Breeders," the Water Buffalo Breeders Association, and the Institute of Women Farmers. "According to them, applying a higher rate only for the first 150 animals creates inequality," said the minister. He emphasized that the linking of support with production realization is pending, as data from the Ministry of Agriculture and Food and the National Statistical Institute indicate that the gray sector remains a serious problem. Deputy Minister Yanislav Yanchev clarified that the proposal affects only dairy cows.
