Italian wine exports; update as of May 2024

Today (for publication tomorrow) I am writing the post on exports from Emidio Pepe's agritourism, an experience that I recommend to everyone. The May figure shows a 2% drop to 704 million euros. Comment: unpredictable to say the least. In April, exports had risen by 16% against -3% in April 2023. This year in May they fell by 2% against a 4% drop in May 2023, which would have ideally offered a better basis for comparison. It is therefore worth focusing on the 5 months of the year, which are positive at +5% and on the figure for the last 12 months at the end of May, +1%. If anything, last month's considerations are even more valid: exports continue to be driven by volumes, even in May +2%, bringing the balance of the 5 months to +5%.
