Wine supplies from Spain and France to Russia fell 1.5 times over the year

The volume of supplies of still wines from Spain and France to Russia decreased in December 2023 by 59% and 58%, respectively, compared to the same period in 2022, the import of wines from Italy decreased by 38%, Roskachestvo said. As experts noted, a noticeable decrease in supplies occurred after the introduction of increased duties on wines from unfriendly countries on August 1, 2023. Overall, over the past year, wine imports from Spain decreased by 11% compared to 2022, from France by 4%, and from Italy by 1%. According to Roskachestvo forecasts, the share of unfriendly countries in the volume of wine supplies to Russia will continue to decline. At the same time, many countries are interested in working with Russia. For example, among the BRICS countries, South Africa became the leader in wine exports to Russia in 2023.
