The FAO forecasts that global cereal production in 2024/2025 will remain high, almost at the same level as the previous year, reaching 2,846 million tonnes. Despite an expected decrease in corn and wheat production due to adverse weather conditions, there will be an increase in barley, rice, and sorghum production. The total global cereal utilization is projected to reach a record 2,851 million tonnes, with food consumption seeing the largest increase. Global cereal stocks are also expected to increase by 1.5% to a record 897 million tons. The 2023/2024 marketing year is estimated to have seen a record production of 2,847 million tonnes, a 1.2% increase from the previous year.
