The Sinnong Farming Association in Yeongdong, Chungcheongbuk-do, South Korea, has begun exporting 4.7 tons of dried persimmons to the United States, marking it as the fourth international market for this product after Vietnam, Hong Kong, and Australia. Located at the foot of the Sobaek Mountains, Yeongdong is known for its large temperature difference and abundant sunlight, which makes its dried persimmons sweet and chewy. In the previous year, 1,989 farms in the area produced 2,535 tons of dried persimmons.
