Spain: Spain Signs Agreements With China for the Export of Almonds and Persimmons (Mar 31)

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA) has indicated that Spain and China signed trade agreements that allow the export of almonds and persimmons of Spanish origin to the Asian country. Within the framework of the visit to Beijing by the President of the Government, the MAPA and the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China have reached the phytosanitary protocols that allow such shipments.

Turkey: Possible minus Temperatures Can Seriously Damage the Blooming Hazelnut Buds (Mar 28)

The Board of the Union of Chambers of Agriculture of Turkey reported possible minus temperatures after the expected snowfall in the Black Sea Region that can seriously damage blooming hazelnut buds. The hazelnut buds have started to open, and leaves have grown due to the hot winter.

Turkey: USD 1.7B Was Obtained From Hazelnut Exports in Turkey in 2022 (Mar 31)

In 2022, a total of 312,564MT of Turkish hazelnuts were exported to 127 countries worth USD 1.7B. In the first four months of the 2022/23 export season, which started on September 1, an export income of USD 742M was generated from the sale of 130,606MT of hazelnuts, representing a drop of 22.62% in export value and 9.24% in export volume compared to the same period in 2021/22.

Kenya: Macadamia Prices in Kenya Dropped 38% In W13 Due to Oversupply (Mar 27)

In W13, farmers in the central region of Kenya have started harvesting macadamia nuts, which are available in abundance. As a result, raw macadamia nut prices dropped from USD 0.61/kg before the season kicked off to USD 0.38/kg in W13.
