Brazil

Brazilian Mango Exports Drop From January to November 2022 (Dec 26)

Brazilian mango exports fell from January to November 2022. According to data from Secex, Brazil exported 189.8K tons of fruit to all destinations, a decrease of 23% compared to the same period in 2021. With a revenue of USD 168.6M, a 25% reduction YoY.

Colombia

Colombian Mangos Arrive in the United States for the First Time (Dec 28)

On December 28th, the first container of fresh Colombian mangos arrived in the United States at the port of Savannah, Georgia. From there, 20 tons of the fruit will be transferred to Gulf Port Mississippi to be distributed across the Southeast Coast of the United States.

Costa Rica

Prices for the 2023 Pre-season of Keitt Mango in Costa Rica (Dec 29)

During the pre-season W52-W4 of 2023 in Costa Rica, EXW prices for a 4kg box of Keitt mango variety are set at USD 4.50 for the larger sizes (550g - 645g), while the smaller sizes (375g - 420g) are at USD 5.50.

The Price of the 4kg Mango Box Will Increase by 3% In Costa Rica in the 2023 Season (Dec 29)

In Costa Rica, mango suppliers experienced a price increase in carton boxes during W52. For the 2023 season, a rise of 3% will be implemented for the 4kg box compared to the previous 2022 season in an attempt to cover the cost increase of USD 0.15 for the carton boxes.

Kenya

Kenya’s Apple Mango Prices Dropped 15% MoM in W51 (Dec 27)

Kenyan apple mangos prices have dropped by 15% MoM to USD 2.8/4kg box in W51. This is mainly due to an increase in harvest volume and an increase in the maturity level of the fruit. Additionally, due to the maturity level, shipping by sea is discouraged beginning in January 2023.

Peru

Fresh Mango Maritime Exports Grow 19.31% In Volume Until W50 (Dec 26)

From the beginning of the 2022/23 Peruvian mango campaign in W40 (end of September) to W50 (December 11), Peru exported 43,724 tons of fresh mangoes by sea, showing an increase of 19.31% compared to the 36,646 tons shipped in the same period of the 2021/22 campaign. 

Export Sales of Peruvian Mango Were Affected by Transport Strikes in December 2022 (Dec 27)

Since the beginning of December 2022, Peruvian growers and exporters of fresh mango were affected by transport strikes. By the end of W50, growers reported a decrease of 30% in export sales compared to the volume exported in the prior 2021/22 season. The financial impact concerns growers as the volume not exported could not be allocated in the local market.

Stable Prices for Peruvian Mangos in the United States Market During W52 (Dec 28)

Due to the holidays, markets have begun to slow down significantly across all commodities during W52. Mangos from Peru have been stable with prices ranging from USD 3-4.50/2.5kg according to imports through the ports of South Florida. Transportation and freight rates experienced a significant spike in pricing for all lanes due to bad weather conditions and a tightening demand for the holidays. Rates are forecasted to stabilize within the first weeks of 2023.
