Brazil's safrinha corn planting is behind schedule, with only 9% planted compared to 27% at the same time last year. Mato Grosso, the largest producing state, has planted 6.2% of its safrinha corn, a decrease from last year. The potential yield losses and reduced estimate of the 2024/25 Brazil corn production are consequences of the delayed planting. Despite these challenges, the final yield of the late planted safrinha corn remains uncertain. Conab will provide an official production estimate in their February Crop Report.
