Renowned as the "Queen of Vietnamese Coffee," TNI founder and CEO Le Huong Yeu, speaking at a press conference, outlined the nearly two-century journey of Vietnamese coffee beans, from the first plantations in the Central Highlands to Vietnam's current status as the world's second-largest coffee producer.
Ms. Le Huong Yeu said that the Global Coffee Heritage Festival is seen as a strategic step to affirm Vietnam as a leading exporter of Robusta coffee and to demonstrate its potential to become a global hub for coffee heritage.
Former Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Lam Dong Province, Phan S, stated that currently, about 70 countries around the world grow coffee. The global average coffee yield is only 0.9 tons per hectare. However, Vietnam's coffee yield reaches 2.5 tons, which is three times the global average. Meanwhile, Lam Dong Province's coffee plantation area is 41,700 hectares, with a yield of 120,000 tons, accounting for 43% of the area but 58% of the yield.
"This shows that Lam Dong Province is not only the coffee capital of Vietnam but also of the world. Through this festival, we will transform coffee from a mere agricultural product into a heritage that encompasses cultural, economic, and tourism value," Phan S said.
Nguyen Thi Thu Huong, Director of the Organizing Committee of the 2025 Global Coffee Heritage Festival, said that the festival has attracted businesses and associations from coffee powerhouses such as Brazil, Ethiopia, and Indonesia, opening up new export and cooperation opportunities and driving the coffee industry towards a creative economy.
According to the Organizing Committee, during the 2025 Global Coffee Heritage Festival, in addition to the International Coffee Conference and the Vietnam-World Coffee Alliance announcement ceremony, there will be an exhibition of the "Coffee Heritage Carriage," a 1932 vintage train car, a Global Coffee Journey Week, and a grand "Coffee Music Night" featuring a fusion of ethnic and modern music. The Global Coffee Heritage Festival will become a tourism economic brand, making a positive contribution to local development, promoting Vietnam's positive image, and declaring to the world that Vietnamese coffee not only has high yield but also has stories, culture, and a vision for the future.
