Due to a delayed soybean harvest, around 40% of Paraguay's safrinha corn was planted in March, which is outside the ideal planting window, potentially leading to lower corn yields. The consulting firm Dasagro predicts an average yield of 5,700 kg/ha (90.6 bu/ac), down from the usual range of 6,100 to 6,700 kg/ha (97 to 106 bu/ac). There is also a risk of frost damage to the later planted corn in May or June. Currently, the corn is rated at 30% in vegetative development, 50% pollinating, and 20% filling grain.
