Six new varieties of crops including soybeans, grain sorghum, corn, and winter triticale, developed by the Federal State Budgetary Scientific Institution "Rossorgo", have been added to the State Register of Breeding Achievements in Saratov, Russia. These varieties are adapted to the region's arid climate and have high yield potential. The institution has also entered into partnerships with local farms for increased seed production. Despite only 1% of the total sown area in the region being sorghum varieties, their popularity is growing as an alternative to fodder corn due to their high yields and nutritional value. An agreement with the Saratov livestock farm LLC "Kolosok" has been made to select suitable varieties for making silage from sorghum crops.
