The Valencian Institute of Agricultural Research (IVIA), through its Citrus and Genomics Centers, is set to participate in a pioneering project aimed at analyzing the iconic bitter orange trees that populate the Orange Courtyard of the Mosque-Cathedral of Córdoba. The central objective of the study is to develop technological strategies for the characterization of the environmental quality of the Courtyard and to establish its relationship with the surrounding urban environment. The research team is multidisciplinary and includes Valencian experts Pablo Aleza and Javier Terol, from the Center for Citrus and Plant Production and the Genomics Center of IVIA, respectively. The initiative originates from the University of Córdoba (UCO), with the participation of full professors María José de la Haba, Isabel Castillejo, and Ángel Lora.
