Sancheong-gun, located at the foot of Mt. Jirisan, is known for its optimal conditions for freeze-drying persimmons, which results in a high-quality product with a chewy texture and vibrant orange color. About 1,300 farms in the area produce around 2,700 tons of Sancheong dried persimmons annually, generating approximately 40 billion won in income. These dried persimmons are recognized as the best in the country due to their high sugar content, rich texture, and high vitamin C content, which is 2 to 20 times higher than other dried persimmons. The area has registered geographical indications for dried persimmons and is supporting safe production through modernization of facilities. Sancheong dried persimmons have been represented as Korea's representative fruit for six consecutive years since 2016.
