A Vietnamese family has found success in converting their sugarcane farm to custard apple plantation, introducing the na dai variety in 2014 in Ninh Binh province. They have learned techniques to flower off-season, enabling them to double their harvest and income. By pruning, sprouting, and artificially pollinating, they have managed to cultivate custard apples throughout the year, selling them at significantly higher prices. This example is part of a broader trend in Ninh Binh, where over 100 households have adopted custard apple farming across 200 hectares, valued for its suitability to the local climate and soil conditions, and its ability to provide twice-yearly harvests with high economic value.
