The superintendent director of Abit, the association that represents the textile and garment industry, Fernando Valente Pimentel sees positive developments, but also follows with caution the negotiations around the tariffs imposed by the U.S. government against Brazilian products. He does not believe in an immediate solution, with the United States already removing the extra 40% rate, which raised the tariff charged on a series of Brazilian products to 50%. Pimentel observes that an agreement between the two countries will require Brazil to concede on issues of interest to the U.S. government, which may cause the negotiation to not have a quick outcome.
