Vietnam's agricultural exports have seen a significant increase in the first nine months of 2021, reaching a value of $35.5 billion, a 17.7% increase from the previous year, despite the Covid-19 pandemic. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development targets an export value of over $44 billion for the year. The growth is driven by exports of products such as coffee, rubber, vegetables, pepper, cashew nuts, and wood products. Rubber exports in particular have seen a significant increase due to high demand from the Chinese market. The pepper industry is also expected to return to the 'billion-dollar club' due to increased demand and high prices. The cashew industry has also seen an increase in export value, despite a slight decrease in price. The last months of the year are expected to be opportune for fruit exports due to increased consumption demand.
