Peru's fishing exports for direct human consumption saw a 15.4% increase from January to November 2023, reaching US$ 1,616,383,000. Squid, shrimp, and flying eggs were the most popular exports, with China, South Korea, the US, Spain, and Japan being the primary destinations. The sector also saw a 10.6% increase in job creation, with 188,014 jobs generated. The Association of Exporters (Adex) emphasized the importance of further promoting the sector, including the second phase of the National Program Fisheries and Aquaculture Innovation Program (PNIPA).
